Posted - Sep 14,2009 What a weekend!
Where did the rain come from? Not that we weren't excited to see it — we desperately need more of it — but when you have an outdoor wedding for 200 and an outdoor dinner for 2,000 bike riders planned for the weekend, it raises the stress level a bit. Luckily, the rain held off until later that night and Sunday afternoon. Whew!
We also attended the Sonoma County Bridal Fair on Sunday. Very nice turnout, though the rain seemed to slow things down later on. The fair is always fun, not only because we get to talk to hundreds of brides and grooms as they plan their happy day, but also because we love to see the familiar faces of all the Sonoma County caterers, djs, florists, bakers, etc. Everyone caught up and shared stories about how they were coping with this current economy. While some familiar faces were missing, it was fantastic to see how many businesses are still alive and kicking. We all know how hard Sonoma County was hit by the housing crash. We all see the empty storefronts throughout our communities, so it was wonderful to see the fighting spirit of each and every business owner at the fair.
